Random Pictures

This is a back dated post. These pictures were taken during our trip to Sungai Lembing, Kuantan. We had a good time there besides having a very nice breakfast. It takes about 45-minutes to drive there.

Basically, the town is small and has only 2 main streets.

Hubby, my uncle and aunt were busy buying the "Lembing Biscuits" (林明饼), lime juice etc etc...

kids are worn out as they have been running around

ready to go home ....

We had also visited the Crystal House. It was a pleasant trip. I shall upload the pictures that were taken during our breakfast at 阿凤 麺档 in my next post.

烟花

........My first post in Mandarin.

Ikan Bilis Broth

Sometimes when I have no pork ribs or chicken in the fridge, instead of using the G Seasoning Powder, I use ikan bilis (anchovies) to make a broth.

In order to get rid of the “fishy” smell of the soup, you can put in cloves of garlic and bit of peppercorn. Let it boils for about an hour. Voila! It is another very tasty and nutritious anchovies broth.

Once the soup is done, I’ll put in tomato, Chinese spinach and add in fish balls or chicken meatballs. You can even add in a beaten egg to thicken the soup.

It goes very well with rice and my kids like it very much!

Glutinous Rice Balls Dessert

Hubby likes to munch on some dessert after dinner occasionally. Last night after dinner, he tried to look for something to eat from the freezer and found a few packs of glutinous rice balls that are ever ready in the fridge and ask whether I can prepare the dessert for him. I am sure I can darling!

Here’s how I prepare the dessert for him:-

Put in slices of ginger and gula melaka as the soup base.

Cook the glutinous rice balls in other pot. Don’t cook them in the soup base as it will “dirty” the soup.

does it look like fish ball here?

Once the glutinous rice balls are well-cooked, scoop them out into a bowl and then scoop the gula melaka soup base into the same bowl. Ready to serve.

Things to Keep Him Occupied

When I am busy at the kitchen, I will fish out some of the plastic containers, spoon etc for him to play with while I am doing the cooking.

But, when he is bored with his “toys’, I will take the cards and teach him the words. Either he read the words or I place the cards on the floor and he picks up the words that I read.

One stone kills two birds, isn't it? I can do the teaching and cooking at the same time.

Most Loving Siblings

This is the picture that I am actually wanted to send in to the “The Most Loving Siblings’ contest organised by the MOBS. Unfortunately, mummy "dili-dallying" until the day past the contest end date. Anyway, post this picture to share with you all here.

There are times that they fight with each other either for toys or for mummy…..and there are times that they are really fond of each other companion. Tell you, di-di wants to hold his cheh-cheh's hand to sleep at night.

It is Ubat Time!

Both Jia Jia and How How have no problem in taking their medicines. Every time we will just need to spoon-feed them and do not need to coax much for them to gulp it down their throat.

But this little cheeky boy has his own preferred “venue” when he needs to take his daily supplements. That is on the kitchen slab. I do not know why but when I need to feed him his daily supplement, he will go in to the kitchen and points at the slab, asking me “mummy, eat “ubat” here, can?”…..then he was placed on the slab and happily taking his “ubat”

this cheeky boy doesn't like to put on his clothes especially on hot weather....

It is increasingly interesting to "chat" with him nowdays. Everyday, he'll surprise me with new words.

My Little Helper

My little sweetie likes to lend me a hand if I asked for her help while I am doing dishes. In fact, I would just like to let her have some fun when playing with the “water”. But this little one is actually serious in getting her “work” done.

Apart from that, she likes to help her brother to put on his shoes whenever we go kai-kai. It is a pleasant scene when I see cheh- cheh puts on the shoes for di-di.

Here’s my helpful little chubby hand washing the dishes
Here’s a loving & helpful cheh-cheh helping her di-di wearing his shoes

Strawberries Oh Strawberries

I think I won't be buying strawberry anymore, I mean not from here in Miri. I didn't notice the strawberries here were selling at a very expensive price until I went to Carefour and Jusco during my recent trip back to KL.
Can you guess how much is a punnet of strawberries here? RM22 at departmental store and RM28 at the wet market. It is darn expensive! No wonder there were once a blogger mommy commented that it is expensive.
Do you know how much it was selling in West Malaysia? It is only RM8.99 for a small punnet and RM16.99 for a big one. It has the same label and packing and come from the same country!
So, will you buy a punnet of it when you know you are being charged that high?
Tell you, I ate lots of them while I was in Kuantan and KL because I know I will not buy any strawberries while I was here. At least not at the moment.

How How @ 21 months

This cheeky boy of mine will be turning 2 in three months' time. How time flies and I still remembered the day I was in the labor room when hubby told me that "lou poh, got so much hair (in cantonese)" when he saw his head crowning.

How How has increasingly "talkative" nowadays, thanks to his talkative cheh-cheh! How How's vocab has getting better and better and he is able to speak in sentences. Here's just one of our daily conversation this morning before I brought him out for kai-kai...........

how how (H2) : Mommyyy....I wan (want) go kai-kai...

mummy (M) : You want to go kai-kai? So, where do you want to go?

H2: I wan go Parkson.

m: Parkson? Why? What do you want to buy?

H2: I wan buy 大团圆....papa buy 大团圆 for di-di.

m: why? where is your 大团圆?

H2: no more...how how rosak aldi (already)

This cheeky has the liking towards the chinese new year DVD produced by Astro celebreties /broadcasters. And the person he likes most is 阿贤! He had broken the DVD into half while he played with it when he was on the potty to do his "business".

His appetite has been increasing and surprisingly good ever since he recovered from his illness. Most of the time when I was busy in the kitchen and he was hungry, he will come to me and told me that "mummy, i wan mum-mum (eat), I wan mum-mum cheese/面包 etc etc...

Just the other day when I fished out their swimming floats when doing the spring cleaning, he told me that "mummy, i wan go swimming, i wan go 泳泳.

Nowadays, whenever he said the name of the animal, he will mimic the sounds that made by that particular animal. He likes to say " dog, wow-wow!....cow, moo-moo! cat meow! etc etc....

There was one afternoon while cheh-cheh, cheeky boy and I lying on bed ready for nap, he just pop out saying.."ouch! painful!" . That was because his cheh-cheh accidentally sitting on his leg. What surprise me is that he said it so clear that I thought it was Jia Jia saying it.

He can pronounce words correctly like watermelon, jambu, yogurt, banana, grapes, toilet, table etc etc. He even call out our neighbors' name i.e. kaka Dina, ko ko Fa-di-an , aunty poh-poh correctly.

This cheeky boy has been learning real fast and I am amazed that he has learnt quite well in his daily conversation.

Potty Training Di-Di

How How has been diaper free since 3 weeks ago except during nap time and bedtime. I put diaper on him when we go shopping but still bring him to pee in the toilet. Besides, he also tells us he wanted to pee when we go kai-kai (even with diaper on).

Here’s the sort of “diary on potty training” him:-

1st Day- Tuesday

I have chosen the best day to start off our potty training session with di-di. He wet 3 sets of underwear from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm. A good try! I put diaper on him in the evening as I have quite exhausted that day.

2nd Day- Wednesday

Di-di has been really good and he only wet 2 underwear during the day. There was one incident where he already pee in the potty and I went back to the kitchen after putting his pant on to do some cooking. Then, about 15 minutes later he came in and told me …”mummy, shee-shee again”, I then put him on the potty again and he pee inside it. Bravo, boy!

3rd Day- Thursday

No accident today. He has been doing very well. But, I just have to remind and ask him every 30 minutes on whether he needs to pee. Let see how his progress is tomorrow.

4th Day- Friday

Di-di said …. “ mummy, I want shee-shee” . I am on sky high when he told me that this morning. And from then onwards, whenever he needs to pee, he says the same thing. Bravo di-di…another day without any accident! Guess he has mastered the skill of peeing in the potty! Most important, mastered the skill of telling us when he needs to pee!

Besides, he has also poo in the potty and knows when to inform us when he has the urge to do his “business”!

Di-di, mommy is very proud of you!

This photo was taken last year when we were in KL for holiday. This is one of the photos that I like most!

Quick Updates

It has been a while since I last updated my blog. Most probably it was because I am still in my holiday mood a.k.a. laziness since coming back from Kuantan and KL. The other thing is the school holiday is over and I am tied up with the kids and housework.

Our landlord wanted to sell his two units of double storey semi detached house. So, it means we might be moving anytime. If we are looking for a house, most probably I would like to rent a single storey semi detached house as it is easier to manage when come to house chores. One of my hubby’s colleagues suggested us to buy a house instead of renting one. But we do not plan to settle down in Miri, hence, we do not have any plan to do so.

I am “maidless’ now (it has been 5 months since our maid left) and am hiring part timer 3-4 times a week. We are paying RM500- RM600 monthly for the part time maid. So, my relatives ask us why not take a full time live-in maid which may cost the same but will be able to help me all day round instead of just few hours a day. Yes, when sometimes I am tired and hence frustrated in getting the laundry done etc etc ( which mean I spend less time with the kids as most of my time was busy busy doing house chores), I might think that getting an extra help is wonder! But when think of the possibility of getting a not-so-good one, I might just pull my “hand break”!

Tell you this, one of my hubby’s colleagues has an Indonesian maid who never washed the cars, owning a hand phone, have boyfriend and get a day off a week. I am really amazed how he manages the maid this way and yet does not get any troubles.

Another one was that the maid complaint that she has stomach ache when the whole family come back from KL (the maid stayed back in Miri). So, his wife took her to seek consultation with doctor and only found out that she has UTI. They questioned her and she admitted that she had sex with the garbage collector (MPK man) …and not only once! He and his wife didn’t know when did the maid brought the man come in to their house to have the “quickie”! Well, it is not easy to get a good helper nowadays.
