Quick Fixed Lunch

Jia Jia has to attend ballet lessons today and she was really hungry when we reached home. So, in order to fill up her hungry tummy, I had to come out with this as quick fixed lunch.

Shell pasta cooked in Heinz white sauce and tuna, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. It is served with broccoli coated with butter .

These are the ingredients. Easy, right?

Random Pictures

Artists in the making! I'll let them draw on the crayola board and little tikes chalk board when I am really free as I need to keep an eye on them.

Two of them playing "masak-masak" while mommy watching Discovery Home & Health (my favourite channel).

Di-di and Mickey are waiting for the food to be served.

This pix was taken on the night of Mid-Autumn Festival. Just want to let the kids to hold the lantern and bring them to have a walk around the backyard.

Brunei Trip- Dinner at i-Lotus

Hubby celebrated his birthday last Friday and my brother treated us a steamboat buffet at i-Lotus.

At the entrance of the restaurant. Jia Jia with Ee (my niece).

DIY ice kacang.

Hubby with di-di. di-di was busy the whole night playing with the utensils on the table and walking around the fish pond.

di-di happy posing with mommy.
Jia Jia with kau foo (uncle)

The thing I like best that night was the riding with my brother. Kor (brother) gave me a ride on his scooter. I remembered the last time he sent me around in his kap chai (small bike) was about 20 years ago when he needs to pick me up from school as my mom was admitted to hospital for an operation.

Ee brings the cake out for the birthday "boy"!

Darling, best wishes to you!

Simple Lunch

I lost of ideas for lunch the other day or maybe mommy is still yet recovered from the tiredness from traveling (excuses, excuses) and just prepare a very simple lunch for the 3 of us.

In fact, I have been taking long afternoon nap this few days ever since I am back from Brunei. Hubby said that it was due to lack of sleep during the weekend as I stayed up quite late till 2am+ chit-chatting with my brother.

Here's what we had on Tuesday afternoon.

Toast brown bread with cheese and ham. Serve with strawberries and yakult.

Both yakult and strawberries were bought at Supa Save, Brunei. These two items are the "must-have" in my shopping list whenever I go Brunei.

That's The Way They Eat Fruits -Mini Picnic

I normally cut slices of fruits for them after dinner and feed them by holding the fruit myself (especially the boy) as I am kind of clean freak and afraid they would mess up the floor.

But the other day, I just cut up apples and oranges into slices in a plate and hand it to my girl. You know what I saw when I come out from the kitchen. The boy took a wooden stool and put the plate of fruits on it. Look like they're having some kind of mini picnic.

Simple Lunch

I had cooked a quick and easy dish for lunch the other day. As my little girl likes prawn so much, I tried to add in prawn into the stir fried broccoli. Both the kids like it so much that they had a big plate of rice that day. I just serve the dish with white rice, no soup etc.

Ingredients:-

Broccoli, Japanese tofu, prawns, tomato

1) Marinate prawns with corn starch, light soy sauce and sesame oil.

2) Put broccoli in boiling water and let it cooked for few minutes. Drain and keep it aside.

3) Heat up oil, put in chopped garlic, saute until fragrant. Add in marinated prawns and stir fried for a few minutes then add in tomato. Continue to stir fry.

4) put in the broccoli and stir fry for a while before adding the Japanese tofu. Put in water and let all ingredients simmers for a few minutes before add in some oyster sauce.

5) Dish up and serve. Easy, right?

Simple Meal

We had chicken rice for dinner yesterday. Stir fried a green veggie dish and it is too bland just to eat chicken without any veggie.

stir fried veggie with garlic and oyster sauce

晒油蒜米白切鸡 (chicken in garlic and soy sauce) . This dish is very easy to prepare.

Ingredients:-

1/2 chicken ( I use 2 big chicken drumstick)

2 pips garlics(chopped)

Clean chicken well , boil a pot of water. Once water boils, put in the chicken and cook for about 10 minutes. do not remove the chicken from the pot. Let it soaks in the hot water for at least 25 minutes. Dish up and chop into pieces.

The most important part is the seasoning sauce. Ingredients are simple, some oyster sauce, sugar, chicken stock, water and wine. Heat up some oil in a pan, stir in garlic and fry until fragrant. Add in all seasoning ingredients. Keep stirring until gravy turns thicker. Pour on the chopped chicken pieces.

As for the chicken rice, I use pre-mixed Nyonya Rempah to mix into the rice, add in 2 tablespoon of margarine and put in a few screw pines leaves and cook.

Simple and yet easy to prepare! Kids and hubby loves it.

An Outing On Wednesday

Wednesday is the "self-declared" holiday for my little girl and I want to bring them out to do something different. So, I decided to bring them to the park nearby for fish feeding.
water is not clear but you'll see fishes and turtle swim to the surface when you throw the bread into the lake
they're happy

not forgetting to let them running at the park to burn out the excess energy

I am happy that they both enjoy it but I'll not be bringing them to the lake again as it is quite dangerous feeding fish there because there is no security fences and there is possibility that kids may fall into the lake without parents' supervision.

Our Plan for This Weekend

This Friday will be the public holiday here and we plan to drive down to visit my brother in Brunei. Off course we would like to bring the kids to Jerudong Park for a fun night. But heard that they are now collecting fare for entrance to the park whereas it was free entrance 13 years ago. Wow, it means it has been 13 years since I last visited the place.

I remembered that when I was in college years, during semester break, I will go and get myself a ticket and hop on the plane the next day when the semester break starts and fly to Brunei to visit my father and my brother. It was like a normal thing I do during the year end semester break.

Well, I am sure the kids will be very happy playing at the park. Let's hope we could make it there this coming Saturday night.

Besides, we'll be celebrating hubby's birthday in Brunei and we'll indulge ourselves at Escapade. I must bring the camera this time and take a few snapshots of the dishes that we ordered.

Kueh Chap

I am not sure whether you can find this in West Malaysia but it is very common in Sarawak. Almost every stall in the food court sells kueh chap.

I did not fancy this bowl of big, thick noodle plus the "spare parts" and lean pork when a colleague of my hubby brought me to try it out.

But then ever since I have tried out a few times, I am just fall in love with kueh chap. On most Saturdays, hubby will bring me to the "best in town" kueh chap stall for breakfast after drop off Jia Jia for her ballet lesson.

Our Weekend

We brought the kids to Miri Crocodile Farm last weekend. We didn't know Miri has such a big crocodile farm so far until we saw it. They charge RM15 per adult and RM7 for children under 12 years of age. Kind of expensive though. But anyway, both of them really had a good and enjoyable outing. We had taken a few snapshots and let the pictures do the "talking":-

The entrance of the crocodile farm

I instantly feel really "geli" when seeing so many crocodiles lying at the pond

see, they are so interested in seeing those 'geli" crocodiles

happy looking at the rabbits

Besides crocodiles, there are python snake, deer, turkey, bear, leopard cat, monkeys etc etc at the mini zoo.

they had a cooling coconut water when we took a rest before the feeding crocodiles show starts

not forgetting to take a photo of my girl with the crocodile Dundee poster

both of them fall asleep on the way home......zzzzzzzzzzz.......

Too bad that the horse riding is not available that day, if not, I am sure both of them will get a chance to ride a horse!
